Travel Year in Review: 2022

Ski weekends! Getaway cabins! Beachfront vacays! NYC! Italian holiday! Maine coastlines! 2022 was a fabulous year for travel. I wanted to try new experiences in new places and baby, I got it. Here are the highlights from this year along with links to their Destination Recommendations!

Aspen

My first time skiing out west! And first time doing aprés ski properly 🍸 With the most incredible views on the slopes, it’s tough to beat any skiing venture after this one.

Destination Recommendation: Aspen

Getaway Cabin(s)

That’s right, I went to the new Getaway cabins twice. Once with the one bed option and the second with two beds. I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and amenities Getaway had to offer and would stay again here in a heartbeat. Seriously, if you’re needing some quiet for a weekend, this is your spot.

Staycation: Getaway Nashville

santa rosa + alys beach

Santa Rosa was a “I need to go be by an ocean and take a break ASAP” kinda trip. No real plans, just enjoying not looking at screens, eating good seafood, and finishing a book! We absolutely scored not just with the Airbnb, but the time of year. Normally, 30A is swarming with people but we found out that the first week of May it’s practically deserted. A glorious refreshment.

Summertime in Santa Rosa

I spent my 29th birthday with a few of my best gal pals in a dream of a dream place in Alys Beach. This one wasn’t an Airbnb, but I lucked out with a connection with one of said best gal pals! More reading, snacking, movie watching, and giggling in absolute paradise. Believe it or not, this was a plan B! I had initial plans to go to Napa, but it wasn’t in the travel cards for ya Molls this time. I’d say this was an incredible back up plan, yeah?

new york city

Ah, NYC. It’s been my sister’s home for years and we were long overdue for a visit! We crafted a sister weekend with pastries in Central Park, shopping, a stop at the Guggenheim, a day strolling around Governors Island, and baking together :)

positano

Where do I even begin? Third time to Italy, first time to the Amalfi Coast. This was planned late — normally I iron out details months in advance for international trips but I got to booking in June / July and we went the first week of September. I was desperate for a new passport stamp and did this trip differently by staying in just one place which did make a difference in planning. This truly was as fabulous as the pictures seem. Amazing weather, food to die for, and swimming in crystal blue waters… go ahead and put Positano on your bucket list.

Destination Recommendation: Positano

acadia + portland, Maine

If you’ve been following my travels for while, you know I go to National Parks for work every year. This time around, is was a trip up north to Maine during their fall foliage and it did not disappoint! Portland had the best lobster rolls, the blueberries and beer did live up to their delicious hype, and driving / hiking along the coastlines was incredible. Maine was a hell of an ending to a wild travel season!

Destination Recommendation: Acadia National Park

Destination Recommendation: Portland, Maine

All of this didn’t include other travels to friend’s weddings, family trips, staycations, and more skiing in North Carolina! I learned, absorbed, rested, adventured, and relished in each place where I had to pack a bag or suitcase. My hope for you is that you make room for this too in 2023. It’s amazing what relief we can give our mental health by stepping away from our normal routines. I’m cooking up some really fun travels for the next year and I’m exciting to take y’all along with me! See you soon!
