Boundless skiing, snow-capped mountains, and Après Ski

*Visited in February 2022

Where to stay? We booked from VRBO for this trip! Our place was just outside of Aspen in Basalt with a fabulous view of Sopris Mountain, a peaceful frozen pond in the backyard, and fireplace to warm up on those freezing nights.

Should I rent a car? Yes! Whether you’re staying in town or are venturing to a specific mountain (there are 4 to ski on!), you will definitely need a vehicle. Bonus: if you rent ski / snowboarding equipment, a car that has room to throw them in is helpful.

Where should I go to eat? The food in Aspen does not disappoint — here’s where we ventured: White House Tavern, Ajax Tavern, New York Pizza, Elk Camp, Jalisco Grill, Base Camp Bar & Grill — a couple of these are in Snowmass and they also offer free s’mores everyday at 3 p.m.!

What can I do / where should I ski in Aspen? We skied on Snowmass and loved it. It has more easy runs and their rental spots & restaurants made it super easy when getting on and off the mountain. We rented from here and got our lift tickets here. When you’re not skiing, hit up a relaxing couple of hours at Iron Mountain Hot Springs. There are endless amounts of shops downtown along with the Aspen Art Museum.
