Where to stay? We booked at the fabulous Hotel L’Ancora. They’re next door to Le Sirenuse and is only a 10 minute walk down to the main beach. They offer breakfast included in their pricing and if you can, try to get a room with a balcony. Waking up to the views we had every morning felt unreal. You can also use their private transfer services especially if you’re needing a ride from the airport and don’t want to use a shuttle service. This was the best option location-wise and we really felt like we got the full value of this place. Airbnb’s are about the same if not more so might as well book somewhere that offers options an Airbnb wouldn’t have!

Should I rent a car? I don’t recommend! Those tight switchbacks to get to any town on the Amalfi coast isn’t for the faint of heart and I would rather trust someone else who drives those streets all the time. Shuttle services, private transfers, and ferries are all available to help you navigate around.

Where should I go to eat? You really can’t miss here. The fresh seafood, the rich gelato, the cocktails. All s’good. Franco’s is a bar that is in between (our hotel) Hotel L’Ancora and Le Sirenuse. It’s outdoor and tiny and the line can be long to get in, however it is a Positano staple. The drinks are indeed overpriced but they were delicious and the atmosphere alone is worth it. We ate at Chez Black three times so that’s definitely the top of the recommendation list. An awesome variety and the staff couldn’t be nicer. You can get lemon sorbet from a few different places, but our hotel offered it so we partook several times. So fresh! You can also get gelato from anywhere but we loved Covo dei Saraceni. If you’re hanging on the main beach in Positano, a great grab-and-go lunch place is Blue Bar. La Zagara is in a garden bar setting that’s also a lovely dinner spot or if you just want to hop in for a lemon treat. Across this street is a little grocery shop so be sure to hop in for a water bottle to stay hydrated.

What activities can I do? Eat, drink, and lay on a beach. Or take a boat excursion. It’s all very simple and low stress. Positano has a main beach and private beaches surrounding and most of the private ones offer food & drinks. Arienzo is one of them and it was a huge part of my Italian experience. You can just walk up to just about any booth on the main beach to grab a couple chairs, no need to reserve ahead of time unless it’s a busier season. Our boat excursions were done through Grassi Junior (private sunset tour) and Exclusive Cruises through Tripadvisor for our all day tour to Capri. There are so many different services that offer excursions and while I do highly recommend private, be sure to read the fine print on all of the places you’re going to to make sure it’s the experience you want!
