Staycation: Getaway Nashville!

This one is for my Nashville peeps! This month, I visited the newest camping experience: Getaway! This biz is still fairly new (began in 2015) and has recently blossomed in “Nashville” — technically, the sites are about 1 hour and 45 minutes from the city. Easy, breezy drive and they’re tucked away so plenty of privacy!

I first visited for 1 night at the beginning of April in a 1 bed cabin named Heath. Getaway has A/C, heat, hot water, and plumbing. They also provide firewood, fire starter, lighter, plates, bowls, utensils, and more along with a stovetop and a mini fridge and moooore. This 1 night away went by quick, but it was a comfortable mini break!

One of the very best parts of Getaway: no wifi. Truthfully, that’s one of my favorite things about traveling - especially internationally. I’ve grown to enjoy not just unplugging, but granting myself space to just sit and be. My day job as a social media manager has me “plugged in” 40 hours a week and most of the time it’s tedious and exhausting. I relish in times when I’m not needed or have to be on top of posting, messaging people back, etc. It’s quite rare to have that kind of time, so when I’ve got it, it feels amazing.

The second time around at Getaway was a full weekend with friends in a 2 bed cabin. The “bunk bed” situation is more ideal than first glance because the both beds are queen sized (score!). Our sweet cabin named Dorothy-Lou came equipped with everything Heath did and due to have an extra bed, this tiny cabin was slightly taller / larger as well.

Back to no wifi — this meant books and games, juuust like the pioneers did it. I completed from start to finish Verity by Colleen Hoover (if you’ve read it, message me immediately as I must discuss) and we made our way through Ticket to Ride, Nerts, and Listography all over shrimp salads, wraps, and the oh-so-sweet afternoon & late night bowl of cereal. Getaway has one easy & short hiking trail on site and others that you can drive to nearby. This girl thrives on a good walk so we were very thankful for good weather and comfortable temps!

I definitely recommend Getaway as it’s accessible, inexpensive, and provides everything that you need so you don’t feel claustrophobic in the cabin or stressed in bringing more supplies. This is a great way to give yourself a much-needed break whether it’s one night or a full weekend! To read more info, head on over to Getaway.
