My Favorite Travel Apps + Must Have Travel Mini Essentials
Where is 2022 taking you? And what apps are you using to help you plan? For some, you’re alllll over the place trying to snag the right deals and tips for your destination. For others, you may just be straight up wingin’ it. I try to do a bit of both for each place I go. You will definitely find me looking up tagged photos on Insta and reading reviews on excursions endlessly before I leave. Especially if I’m reserving and paying $$. Most of the time for food & drink, I like just seeing where the wind blows me! Sometimes the best treasures find you.
Below are a few apps I’ve used that have helped me navigate my travel plans in the past and I continue to use today! Give these a whirl and see where the wind blows you, too.
The sweetest, best words to give people when you’re heading out of town and my new favorite travel app! You can easily create trips, add places to them, collaborate with friends, book hotels, and reserve tables. And do it all from one app. OOO is still pretty new, but I’ve already spent so much time reading reviews and getting inspo ideas for future destinations!
Skiplagged is awesome. But, it only works for quick trips where you’re not checking a bag. Their unique algorithm shows the cheapest regular flights and hidden-city flights faster than any other site. Hidden-city flights refer to itineraries with multiple legs where the traveler exits prior to the final destination. As an example, a traveler who wants to go to San Francisco from New York would book a flight that is ticketed for NYC -> San Fran -> Seattle and end their travel once they arrive in San Fran and skip the leg to Seattle. This results in savings of up to 80% using Skiplagged. I’ve used it a few times & definitely recommend!
I use this even when I’m not traveling! But if you’re hitting the road for your travels, GasBuddy will be your best buddy. It has helpful features like a gas price map, a trip cost calculator, and useful search filters like brand, price location, available restrooms, and more. Bonus, you can save 5¢/gal on every gallon if you use the app's free "Pay with GasBuddy" card.
I’ve used GetYourGuide to book excursions in both Santorini and Mexico! It’s a really easy way to book ahead and skip the lines at the world’s biggest attractions. Get personalized recommendations before and during your trip to experience all your destination has to offer!
