Where should I stay? Tale as old as time: girl has Instagram, girl comes across boutique hotel that’s a thousand miles away on her For You page, girl quickly books. That’s the honest truth of the Coachman Hotel. The trendy rooms are just an additive to their location, happy hours, free s’mores and more.

Should I rent a car? Yes! The Coachman and many other hotels are in a popular area in South Lake Tahoe which is about an hour from the Reno airport. Driving around the lake and being able to stop at lookouts is an experience within itself. In this special case, I rented in Nevada and returned in Oregon — the most cost effective option was through Dollar (owned by Hertz).

Where should I eat? My time in Tahoe was a short one, but Base Camp Pizza and Bert’s Cafe are worth the mention. Here are some other places that were on the list if I needed more options: Sno-Flake Drive-In, Beacon Bar & Grill, The Red Hut Cafe, and the Coachman offers a limited breakfast menu!

What activities should I do? Get on the lake! Our clear kayak experience through Clearly Tahoe was fantastic and was the highlight.
