The Compass
I’ve been shouting it from the rooftops since the end of September, but in case you’ve been living under a rock, I released my first issue of my quarterly travel magazine! october has been a wild month and a part of that is due to the lovely responses from those of you who have purchased, sent messages, shared with loved ones, sold copies in your own businesses, and more. my blog has intentionally been lowkey since 2018. i’ve never sought out to be an influencer, i’ve just wanted to connect with people over travel no matter what my following was. it’s been a place to pour out my thoughts and experiences and now making something tangible has given it a whole new level of meaning. having my own words and photos in your hands has shown me that there is so much more room for me to grow. making my own opportunities has been liberating and fulfilling in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
the timing felt right for me to lean into autumn and exploring the northeast. salem is always on my mind this time of year and also touching on the magic of maine and one of the most beautiful national parks seemed like the right kind of combo that serves both the spooky and non-spooky fans. my goal was, and is, to appease to all kinds of travelers and offer inspiration for your next trip! for me, all it takes sometimes is seeing a tiktok or photos on pinterest to get me down the rabbit hole of a certain destination. i hope the compass becomes that for you!
adding in ads and puzzles were also of the utmost importance to me. they’re arguably the best part of magazines! it also felt nostalgic to me thinking about all of the quizzes and crosswords i’d do with my friends from issues of tiger beat and j-14 in my youth. creating ads of my travel planning services and monthly e-newsletter was really the biggest creative playground i had. leaning into the cheeky, humorous, aesthetically pleasing backgrounds was so fun. i do a sudoko and nyt mini crossword puzzle every day so that felt like another personal piece of me added into the mix. although, the general consensus was that this crossword was hard so you tell me: keep it challenging or take it down a notch?
the compass will remain available to purchase online, but if you’re a nashville local and are out and about, issues are available to pick up in-person at:
📍 hann-me-down’s booth in bits & pieces (germantown)
📍 facing the sunshine’s booth in old hickory social (old hickory)
📍 la bella hair salon (hendersonville)
and more coming soon!
for those wondering, the next issue will be released toward the end of january! until then, i’m cooking up something fun for the holidays… stay tuned 👀
