A St. Louis Slay

My perfect summer is incomplete without an annual trip to St. Louis for baseball, baseball, and more baseball. While these weekends are normally with family, my best friend Baylee and I decided to make it a girls trip and do things a little differently. Although the trip got off to a rocky start (late night flat tire leading to a last minute stay at Paducah, Kentucky’s finest Best Western), the moment we got into St. Louis everything was looking up. We got to our accommodations for the rest of the weekend, the uniquely designed Angad Arts Hotel. With each room color-themed, we opted for the green (rejuvenation) which ended up having a large living and dining room space, centrally located and comfortable.

All of the artwork in and around the art museum + hotel is done by local artists so there’s a piece of St. Louis culture everywhere you look. I’m especially glad we stayed here simply because it’s a fresh and different kind of hotel experience, rather than just a place to sleep. In addition to the museum, Angad Arts has a rooftop bar, a restaurant on the ground floor, and a “library” as their designated work space. Highly recommend for your next trip!

I’ve spent many summers in Busch Stadium and there’s truly nothing like that view with Gateway Arch looming in the distance, fresh beer, and good baseball. Great in this case as the Cardinals walked away with a few W’s 🙌

A walk through the historical district brought us to Bailey’s Chocolate Bar which has a menu full of chocolate desserts and drinks. We got the Sampler’s Plate so we could get a taste of everything and were absolutely swooning over the tiramisu cocktail. With a sweet tooth like mine, this was an awesome night cap to top off the evening. The next morning we also walked to Bowood by Niche which is part nursery, part restaurant so you can shop around the plants & plant accessories while waiting for your table! I couldn’t have inhaled the Vermont cheddar waffle faster.

Although our unforeseen flat tire deterred us from Yellowbelly, I plan on hitting that up first thing when I make my way back(!). I loved seeing this city that I’ve been to a hundred times in a completely different way while still having baseball be a part of it all. My brother and I’s favorite shop to stop by in Ballpark Village is Arch Apparel — no trip is complete without a new piece of memorabilia. Even if sports aren’t your thing, St. Louis is full of rich history with blues music, BBQ, beer and tons of outdoor activities (Missouri Botanical Gardens, I’m coming for you soon!). The coolest view of the city is of course the top of Gateway Arch, just be prepared for a tight squeeze for the ride up!

What cities have you re-visited and seen in a whole new light?
