New Year Favorites!
Well, well, well if it isn’t 2022. Welcome! We come in peace 😂
A fresh year which means fresh travel plans and accessories! As I’ve hopped and bopped around, I’ve learned that the way we travel and what we carry can actually make our experiences better & more convenient. I held onto weekender bags, backpacks, and toiletry bags that had rips in them or were super worn for years until (lightbulb) I realized I can invest in quality, durable products that won’t cause such a headache while on trips.
I’ve rounded up some travel favorites along with some tips so before you take your next trip, you can shop through these & sashay through the airport without feeling stressed or disorganized!
Weekender Bags
This is a big one for me! I take more long weekend trips than anything else so having a bag that was sturdy (and stylish!) was a priority for me. For Christmas, I received this leather bag from Amazon and the best part is the shoe compartment that zips at the bottom so you can pack shoes with ease! Plus the $44 affordable price was a nice touch.
Another great option is The Weekender from Béis. With a couple more compartments that the leather one above doesn’t have, it provides an abundance of space, comes in 4 different colors, and is made of durable canvas. While the prices on Béis vary from the ones on Amazon, they provide their biggest sales on Black Friday - Cyber Monday weekend and offer 15% off for signing up for their newsletter year round. They also have a rewards system so you can earn & redeem!
Carry-ons & Check-Ins
I bought my hard shell carry-on and check-in bags from Amazon a few years ago and they’ve worked well! They’ve got a few scuffs but overall have been a reliable pair of no-nonsense luggage pieces. I’ve been wanting to explore different travel bags and I’ve turned to Béis and Away. The price points are fairly close to each other, both offering fabulous compartments and stellar customer reviews. The best parts of these are the TSA locks that come with both brand’s products & a separate laundry bag in each to provide space for dirty garments.
Footwear
If you’re like me, I had a hard time figuring out what shoes to wear to an airport / on a flight. Sandals are a big no and boots are a bit much (unless you’re flying somewhere freezing!). Getting comfy slip-on sneakers made all the difference. I bought these Nikes a few months ago and I’m obsessed! I bought them from Dick’s, but they’re now out of stock of these specific colors. To search for the same shoe but different colors, just Google: Nike Women's Court Legacy Shoes.
TSA PreCheck
Lemme tell y’all something… TSA PreCheck changed. the. game. I’ve shouted from the rooftops to anyone that flies regularly. It’s an $80 fee, it’s good for 5 years, and it has absolutely, 100% saved me from missing flights. Invest for your future self and never have to go through the hassle of long security lines, taking off your shoes, jacket, etc. and not take any electronics out of your bag.
With airports being is disarray these days, I’ve thanked myself a thousand times for getting this thing. I applied, went to a local TSA station in a Staple’s nearby for a 10 minute appointment, and got my TSA number / info all within 2 weeks. What are you waiting for? TSA PreCheck here, baby.
Emotional Support Water Bottle
It’s truly been the companion we’ve all needed. My emotional support water bottle of choice is the 25 oz. classic canteen from Corkcicle (in gloss white). It keeps the cold cold and the hot hot - what more can ya want?
That’s all for now, folks! Gift yourself by solidly investing in your travel self and shake the stress away (it’s so 2021).
Happy trails!
