Going Solo in 2024

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been asked why I haven’t traveled by myself yet. There have been several reasons varying between safety, money, and just simply wanting to experience traveling with my people. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve come to find a new balance in doing things solo while also making sure my extrovert battery has some life in it. Just simply being with myself is not something that makes me feel as uncomfortable or lonely anymore. Growing to that point has made me excited for the challenge of taking on a destination with just me, myself, and I. So, where am I heading?

NANTUCKET

I’ve had this little Massachusetts island in the back of my mind for about a year now and this seemed like the best time to finally go. I’ve never been to a place like this where it’s secluded, clean, and is filled with goooood food (gimme lobstah). And the idea of riding a bike around town fills me with fuzzy feelings. I am a summer girl through and through so this felt like a no-brainer as a new destination to the roster.

While I’ll report back with a new blog, destination recommendation, etc. for Nantucket, I’m also looking forward to sharing about the challenges, nuances, and best parts of traveling solo. Since I’m usually traveling with people, I’m used to splitting costs which won’t be the case this time. And while I always have a keen awareness of my surroundings, I know it will need to be on another level when alone. Here are a few things I’ll be purchasing before I go:

If you’ve done a solo trip before, what are your recommendations?

If you’ve been to Nantucket, what are your must-do’s and don’ts?

Looking forward to a handful of firsts in traveling!
